We're Gonna Be Here Awhile

Words and music by Bridget Fleming.

With every salty tear that falls from my eyes

My heart grows heavy living for each sunrise

Kindness disguised as cruelty

It's no surprise, but soon you'll see

By the depth of the ocean

We're gonna be here for awhile

We're made of particles of tiny tragedies

Colliding, separating...apologies

I'll wait my turn, I'll stand in line

I'll smile and tell you I'm just fine

Though I need some attention

We're gonna be here for awhile

Your footsteps slowly fade as you walk away

I just remembered something I forgot to say

"I'm so sorry, but we all must

live underneath the same darn sky..."

Oh well

If I could miss someone, of course it'd be you

Your broken promises are not breaking news

I'm getting tired, it's getting late

But my heart tells me just to wait

For a perfect conclusion

We're gonna be here for awhile
